Great interview Brian! I love that you said healthcare costs have risen 5 times faster than inflation costs FOR THE PAST 14 YEARS–that’s a staggering statistic that says a lot about our health care system and our nation’s economic system in general. Of course that’s going to cripple any major country’s ability to compete globally with other populations that have much lower healthcare costs that don’t limit their economic growth (like our health care system does).
I also love that you say that our health care efficiency is low, about half of that of other nations. We spend more for care but get less, in other words. Great interview.
I love that you hit upon the “invisible mechanisms” that allow the industry to charge more for the same services they’ve always provided. I agree lack of transparency is a HUGE problem.
