Declaration of the Occupation of New York City

Brian’s Note: I strongly believe that special interests’ capture of America’s lawmaking process and the legal acceptance of corporations as people are strong signs that the nation we are becoming is very different than the America we all believed in as children.

This is why I support the Occupy Wall Street movement. I would like to see OWS become this generation’s Viet Nam, instilling young people with a sense of purpose and justice, and serving as the speartip of increasing pressure for change that can bring America’s social structure back into balance.

Here is a declaration developed by the leaders of Occupy New York. It is a fervent statement and filled with passion. Much of what it states is true. What I hope it means is that there is a growing urgency among young Americans that the current mechanisms that drive policy in this country now cannot hold.
